FAQs

Your questions answered

What is tapMenopause? +
tapMenopause is a specialist private GP service focused on menopause and perimenopause care. It's provided by tapGP — a CQC-regulated UK private GP practice. Our doctors are NHS-trained, GMC-registered, and have a specialist interest in menopause and women's health.
Is tapMenopause suitable for me? +
Our free suitability check takes 2 minutes and will tell you straightaway. We treat women in perimenopause, menopause and post-menopause aged 40 and over. If you're under 40 and experiencing symptoms, you may have premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) which requires specialist referral — our suitability check will flag this.
What does the £195 menopause assessment include? +
A 40-minute video or phone assessment with a UK GP. Your doctor will review your symptoms, medical history, HRT suitability, treatment preferences and safety factors. You'll receive a personalised menopause care plan, and if medication is appropriate and safe, a private prescription may be issued during or after your appointment.
What does the £45/month subscription include? +
The ongoing care plan supports patients who are established on treatment and suitable for ongoing private menopause care. It includes repeat prescription review where clinically appropriate, treatment and dose review if symptoms or side effects change, follow-up review reminders, access to consultation notes and care plan, and secure admin and care coordination through the tapGP app. You can cancel at any time.
Why do I need to download the tapGP app? +
tapMenopause runs on the secure tapGP platform. You book and pay for your initial consultation here on this website — then download the free tapGP app to attend your appointment by video or phone, access your care plan and manage your ongoing care. The app is rated 4.9/5 on the App Store and takes about 2 minutes to set up.
Can treatment be prescribed after my first appointment? +
If, after assessment, your GP feels medication is appropriate and safe, a private prescription may be issued. Sometimes we may need further information, a recent blood pressure reading, medical records or specialist input before prescribing.
Can you discuss different menopause treatment options? +
Yes. Your GP can discuss licensed menopause treatment options, non-hormonal options, lifestyle measures and when specialist referral may be needed. Any prescription decision depends on your symptoms, medical history, risk factors and clinical suitability.
Do I need to leave my NHS GP? +
No. Using tapMenopause has no effect on your NHS registration. Many of our patients use tapMenopause alongside their NHS GP, particularly while waiting for NHS menopause services or when they want more specialist attention than a general GP appointment allows.
Is my information secure? +
Yes. All records are stored securely using encrypted systems on the tapGP platform and are only accessible to authorised clinical staff trained in data protection. We never share your information without your consent, except where legally required.
