Your questions answered

How much does it cost and how soon can I be seen?+
The assessment is a flat £59 and usually lasts 15 to 30 minutes, by secure video or phone at a time you choose — often the same day. There are no hidden fees. If you're stable on treatment afterwards, ongoing repeat-prescription care is £19/month. Medication is paid to the pharmacy separately.
What if medication isn't right for me?+
Your £59 covers a full consultation with a GP, whatever the outcome. Medication is prescribed only where it's clinically appropriate — and if it isn't, your GP will explain why and discuss the alternatives that would suit you better, such as therapy or other support. You always come away with professional advice and a clear plan.
Is this just a prescription service, or a real assessment?+
It's a proper GP assessment. You complete a safety screening check, then have a 15-minute consultation with a GMC-registered GP who reviews your symptoms, medical history and options. A prescription is only issued if the doctor decides it's clinically appropriate. Your GP prioritises your safety and wellbeing, not just prescribing.
What conditions do you treat — and not treat?+
Our doctors commonly support adults with anxiety, depression, stress-related symptoms, social anxiety, mild-to-moderate OCD, and perinatal or postnatal depression.

We do not treat ADHD, psychosis, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, personality disorders, or alcohol and drug dependence. The free suitability check will tell you straight away if this service isn't right for you.
How quickly will I see improvement?+
It depends on the medication and your symptoms, but a typical pattern is:
  • First few days: some people notice early changes in sleep or anxiety; side effects can also appear first.
  • 2–4 weeks: gradual improvement is more common — fewer difficult days, slightly better mood and motivation.
  • 4–8 weeks: the fuller benefit is usually clearer, and your GP can review whether to continue or adjust.
If you feel significantly worse or have thoughts of self-harm, seek urgent help immediately (call 999 or go to A&E).
Do I have to pay for the medication itself?+
The £59 assessment includes writing your prescription. The pharmacy charges separately for the medication and may apply a private dispensing fee. NHS prescription exemptions do not apply to private prescriptions.
Are your doctors qualified, and is my information secure?+
Yes. Every appointment is with an NHS-trained, GMC-registered UK GP, and tapGP is regulated by the Care Quality Commission. Your consultation is private, and your records are stored securely on encrypted systems, accessible only to authorised tapGP staff. Using tapGP does not affect your NHS GP registration.
When should I seek urgent help instead?+
This service is not for emergencies. If you feel at risk of harming yourself, feel unsafe or are in immediate danger, call 999, go to A&E, or call NHS 111 for urgent advice.
